Optics and Focus
The FE 28–70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens comes with the Sony Alpha a7 III camera for capturing wide-angle and portrait shots. This lens is constructed with an extra-low dispersion element and 3 aspherical elements that take care of chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range. The Optical SteadyShot image stabilization minimizes camera shakes when shooting handheld. The camera boasts an upgraded Fast Hybrid AF System that combines 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points for quicker autofocus and subject tracking. You may use the autofocus with the Focus Magnifier mode for minute focusing on scenes. Plus, the touchscreen LCD at the back of the camera can be used for Touch Focus control, while the Touchpad Focus Control mode allows using the screen along with the viewfinder. The fastest shutter speed of this digital camera stands at 1/8000th of a second, and the ISO sensitivity range can be extended from 100–51200 to 50–204800. Moreover, the Highlight metering mode prevents blown-out highlights, while the Average metering mode ensures stable auto-exposure.
Sensor and Screen
The Alpha a7 III digital camera from Sony features a full-frame 24.2 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor that works with the BIONZ X image processor for rendering high-resolution stills and videos, sans the noise. The 2.36 m-dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder offers 0.78× magnification and allows the use of the Focus Magnifier mode for hassle-free manual focusing. You may also use the 3-inch 922K tilting touchscreen LCD at the back for media viewing, altering the camera settings, and shooting from high and low angles. The touchscreen and EVF offer 100% screen coverage.
Images and Videos
You may shoot clear UHD 4K movies at up to 30 fps with the Sony Alpha a7 III camera. Along with the 2.4× oversampling, the camera ensures impressive detail and full-pixel readout minus binning, and renders enhanced image quality with reduced moiré and aliasing. This camera can also record Full HD videos at a continuous shooting rate of up to 120 fps, as well as 4× and 5× slow-motion recording at frame rates of 30p or 24p. The 24 MP sensor enables this Sony camera to shoot images at 6000×4000 pixels. Moreover, this camera can shoot at a continuous rate of 10 fps, with 89 RAW and 177 JPEG photos. Thanks to the integrated 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system, the camera can reduce up to five types of shakes when shooting handheld.
