Sony Unveils A7 and A7R Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras

Well Sony is at it again with the whole innovation thing. As if a lens-camera design wasn't enough, they just announced the worlds first (consumer-based) full-frame mirrorless camera...Two rather: The A7 and A7R. Although the two look similar with their built in EVFs, their innards are much different. The A7R has a 36MP sensor with no low-pass filter and contrast-detect AF. The A7 features a 24MP sensor with AA filter and on-chip phase detection AF. Five new FE lenses have been announced to support the larger sensor: 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS, 55mm F1.8 ZA Carl Zeiss Sonnar T*, 35mm F2.8 ZA Carl Zeiss Sonnar T*, 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar T* and 70-200mm F4 G OSS. Other specs include a new BIONZ X processor, XGA OLED 'Tru-finder', 3-inch LCD, Wi-Fi with NFC, and 60p video. The A7 will be sold  with the 28-70 f3.5-5.6 for $1999 or body only for $1699. The A7R comes body only for $2299. Both are expected to ship sometime in December.

If full frame, interchange able lens thing isn't up your alley, fear not. Sony has you covered wit the new RX10 Superzoom. This new camera has the same 1" sensor as the RX100 II, but with a fixed 24-200mm (equivalent) lens with a constant max aperture of f/2.8. Specs include the new Bionz X processor, tilting 3" LCD, OLED EVF, WiFi with NFC, and 60p recording. The RX10 should ship in November with a $1300 price tag.
