The Olympus OM10 SLR Camera was brought into the market in June 1979 as the part of the Olympus OM system. This camera has the Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens included with it. The Olympus OM10 uses the TTL direct-light exposure measuring system to provide an EV range of 0.5 to 18. Apart from the standard aperture-priority mode, you can meter the camera manually with the provided FC adapter. The film speed can be adjusted from ASA 25 to 1600. With the pentaprism viewfinder, you get 93% frame coverage and 0.92× magnification. The camera has other features like battery check, quick return mirror, self-timer, and accessory shoe.
Optics and Focus
The included Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens offers a 47° field of view. Its optical construction comprises 6 elements arranged in 5 groups. The wide aperture opening makes the lens ideal for photographing images in dim lighting. You can manually focus the lens to capture clear shots of an object as close as 0.45 m. The front thread of the lens accepts 49mm filters. The camera has the aperture-priority mode as a default exposure setting. You can use the provided FC adapter to use the camera to its full potential by adjusting the shutter speed from 2 seconds to 1/1000th of a second. The split-image matte screen assists you when focusing on an object.
Sensor and Screen
The camera has a pentaprism viewfinder for composing the shot. It covers 93% area of the frame and offers 0.92× magnification of the image. The viewfinder shows the shutter speed in 12-step scale and indicates the flash with the LED.
Image and Video
This Olympus SLR can be used with 35mm film rolls. The advance lever is provided to wind the film. It offers a 130° advance angle and 30° stand-off. You can use the optional Olympus OM System Winder 2 for automatic film advance operation.
Other Features
You can mount an external flash device to the camera's top accessory shoe that has a direct contact for connecting electronic flash units. The attached flash gets automatically synchronized with the shutter at 1/60th of a second. You can delay the shutter release up to 12 seconds with the self-timer. The camera functions on two 1.5 V alkaline-manganese or silver oxide batteries.
