Can an Olympus OM Autofocus 50mm f/1.8 be adapted with autofocus to a Canon EOS Rebel T6?

I accidentally bought an Olympus OM autofocus 50mm f/1.8 lens for use on my Canon EOS Rebel T6. I had assumed it was manual focus, but it turns out it is one of the Olympus OM AF/PF lenses.
Is there any adapter that would let this lens autofocus on a Canon EOS body, or even work properly at all? If not, would I be better off reselling it and buying a lens made for Canon EF/EF-S?

The flange-focal distance only differs by a couple of mm between OM and EF mount, which means that the adapters are thin wafers of metal, with no space for adding electronics. It might be possible, but the extreme difficulty, combined with the fact that the auto-focus OMs weren't very popular compared to the manual models, means that there isn't much incentive for anyone to put the work into trying to produce such an adapter.

Probably not. The Olympus OM AF/PF lenses are very obscure, and there is not a commonly available adapter that enables autofocus on Canon EOS bodies.
The main problem is physical and mechanical: the OM-to-EF flange distance difference is very small, so any adapter has to be extremely thin. That leaves essentially no room to add the electronics or motor systems needed to drive autofocus or proper aperture control.
In fact, according to the community answers, there isn’t even a widely available commercial adapter that fully supports these lenses manually. These OM autofocus lenses also lack a normal aperture ring, so even if you could mount one, aperture control would be a major issue.
Some may allow limited manual focusing by moving the front section, but practical use on your Rebel T6 would still be very compromised.
So yes: the most sensible option is usually to resell the lens and buy a lens designed for Canon EF/EF-S, or a manual-focus lens with a straightforward EOS adapter.
