Overview

This compact, high-performance 35mm full frame format mid-range zoom lens has been specifically designed bring out the full performance potential of the α7-series full frame E-mount bodies. True to the “Tessar” concept, the SEL2470Z offers superior sharpness and contrast in a ultra-compact lens design.

The T* (T-star) coating contributes to typically outstanding Carl Zeiss image quality, with high contrast and uniformly excellent resolution right out to the image edges. The coating subdues reflections at the lens surfaces, increasing transmission and minimizing flare and ghosting that can compromise rendering. Natural color reproduction and impressive presence give subjects a lifelike quality. Five aspherical elements and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element in an advanced optical design reduce aberration and distortion to a minimum.

A constant F4 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range allows the user to use optimum exposure parameters that will create the desired “look” at any focal length. The ability to use F4 at the telephoto end of the zoom range also reduces the need to use high ISO settings, and allows the use of high shutter speeds to capture action when necessary. A circular aperture design helps to deliver smooth background defocusing.

Optical SteadyShot image stabilization

Optical SteadyShot image stabilization provides a marked reduction in image blur caused by camera shake, especially when shooting handheld at telephoto focal lengths or in dim indoor lighting. In the Anti Motion Blur and Handheld Twilight modes this technology makes it easier than ever to shoot clear, blur-free, low-noise images at night, indoors, or in any conditions that would otherwise be a challenge due to low light conditions, without having to boost sensitivity.
