OVERVIEW
Capture high-resolution still and 4K videos with the Nikon Z6 FX-Format Camera. Being the newest addition to the Nikon's mirrorless family, the camera delivers a faster image processing speed and better low light sensitivity than the previous models using its 24.5MP BSI CMOS sensor. The advanced EXPEED 6 image processor works in tandem with the sensor to create stunning images as well as support the 12 fps continuous shooting. Select the N-Log gamma picture profile to record videos in a flat profile where both shadow and highlights are preserved. This gamma recording function is complemented by the zebra stripes that let you expose the image correctly. The 5-axis sensor-shift VR system reduces the effects of camera shakes by 5 stops if a NIKKOR Z lens is mounted. You can monitor the scene from a high or low angle with the 3.0-inch, 2.1m-dot tilting LCD. A 3.6m-dot electronic viewfinder also incorporated for eye-level shooting. Online image sharing is simplified by the integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity that provide fast transfers speed and improved file compression for supported devices.
Optics and Focus
The Nikon Z6 supports all Nikon Z-mount lenses. It further extends the compatibility for Nikon F-mount lenses if an optional FTZ adapter is used. The Z-mount provides fast communication between the camera and lens for enhanced autofocus during video recording and continuous shooting. As the mount is 17% wider than standard full-frame cameras, the amount of light enters the camera is comparatively more, resulting in a bright, well-exposed image. The camera employs the fast phase-detection system that includes 273 AF points covering 90% of the imaging area. For the video mode, the camera uses the Hybrid AF that applies the phase and contrast detection methods to offer accuracy. A 5-axis sensor-shift VR system is built into the camera, which minimizes unwanted shakes by 5 stops for Z-mount lenses. If a NIKKOR F lens is mounted on the camera, the image stabilization system reduces the camera shakes by 3 stops.
Sensor and Screen
This Nikon Z series mirrorless camera is equipped with a 24.5 MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor that produces vibrant imagery at a fast speed. Its back-illuminated design also supports low light shooting by reducing unwanted noise at an ISO limit of up to 51200. The 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD provides a 2.1m-dot resolution live view for vivid playback of the recorded media. You can compose the shot with the 3.6m-dot electronic viewfinder that covers 100% of the screen area just like the LCD. A fluorine coat is given to the EVF for making it easy to clean fingerprints, dust, and moisture off its optics.
Image and Video
Shoot professional quality 4K videos in a variety of picture profiles to get the ultimate cinematic look. The Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera also shoots in 1080p at a frame rate up to 120 fps to create fluid slow motion videos. You can take pictures with the camera in JPEG or RAW format at a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 pixels. The EXPEED 6 is the latest image processor in Nikon's digital camera range, which looks after the system performance to support 12 fps burst RAW shooting. With the 10-bit N-log gamma, the camera records the video in a 12-stop dynamic range to apply LUTs during the post-production color grading. This gamma footage can be recorded to an external device via the HDMI port. The zebra function shows the over-exposed parts in the image to simplify the exposure adjustment during gamma recording. You can create 4K time-lapse sequences with the interval timer that takes up to 9999 high-resolution still shots.
Other Features
Link your smartphone to the Nikon Z6 via the built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for transferring images. When opting for Wi-Fi, you can select the bandwidth from 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. The SnapBrigde software is upgraded to 2.5, which allows you to adjust the exposure and monitor the scene remotely. This Nikon mirrorless camera has its chassis built from durable magnesium alloy and has weather seals on the joints and buttons to prevent dust and moisture from entering. Along with the camera, an EN-EL15b battery and charger are included in the box.
