OVERVIEW

The Marumi 62mm FS Plus Lens Protect Filter is a clear protective filter made for lenses with a 62mm front filter thread. Designed for photographers and content creators who want dependable everyday protection, this filter helps guard the lens's front element from dust, smudges, scratches, moisture, and routine handling while preserving the natural look of the image. Because it is a protection filter rather than a creative effect filter, it is intended to remain on the lens full time with minimal impact on color balance, contrast, or exposure.

Compatible With

  • Lenses with a 62mm front filter thread

Clear Everyday Lens Protection

The primary benefit of the FS Plus Lens Protect Filter is simple: it creates a sacrificial barrier in front of your lens. Cleaning a filter is generally easier and less stressful than cleaning the front optical element of an expensive lens. For travel, street photography, events, landscapes, hiking, and general walk-around use, a protective filter can help reduce wear from constant handling and environmental exposure.

Multi-Coated Optical Glass

Marumi is well known for producing photo filters with attention to optical performance, and the FS Plus series is designed to maintain clarity while reducing unwanted reflections. The multi-coating helps improve light transmission and can reduce flare and ghosting compared with uncoated glass. This is especially useful when shooting in bright daylight, backlit scenes, city nightscapes, or other challenging lighting conditions where extra reflections may otherwise reduce contrast.

Image Quality Benefits

Since this is a neutral clear protection filter, it does not add a color cast or creative effect to your photos. That makes it a practical choice for photographers who want lens protection without changing the character of the lens. Whether you are capturing portraits, landscapes, travel scenes, or video content, the filter is intended to preserve sharpness and overall image integrity while adding peace of mind in the field.

Slim and Practical Design

The 62mm size fits a wide range of lenses, and the filter's slim mount is suitable for everyday use. A lower-profile frame can be beneficial on wider-angle lenses where thicker filters may increase the risk of darkened corners. The design also allows fast installation and removal, making it easy to move between compatible lenses when needed.

Why Use a Protection Filter?

Many photographers choose a protector filter as inexpensive insurance for the front of the lens. It can help reduce direct contact with salt spray, blowing sand, airborne debris, fingerprints from fast-paced shooting situations, and incidental bumps during transport. While no filter replaces proper lens care, a well-made protective filter is a practical accessory for preserving the condition of a lens over time.

How It Compares to UV and ND Filters

A clear protection filter like the FS Plus differs from a UV filter in that its main purpose is physical protection rather than ultraviolet absorption, though modern digital cameras generally do not require UV correction in normal use. It also differs completely from neutral density filters, which intentionally reduce light for long exposures or wider apertures. If your goal is to protect your lens without altering exposure, this type of filter is the right fit.

Recommended Uses

This filter is especially useful for travel photography, family outings, weddings, documentary work, outdoor portraits, and run-and-gun video production. It is also a smart addition for lenses that see frequent mounting and unmounting or are often used in unpredictable weather. Keeping a protection filter on the lens can simplify cleaning after a shoot and help maintain resale condition over the long term.

Usage Tips

For best results, attach the filter securely but do not overtighten it. Clean the surface with a blower first, then use a microfiber cloth or proper lens-cleaning tissue to avoid grinding dust into the glass. Pairing the filter with a lens hood can provide even more physical protection while also helping reduce stray light. If shooting directly into strong light sources, inspect the filter for smudges because fingerprints can increase flare.

Recommended Accessories

Popular additions include a 62mm lens cap, a matching lens hood for your lens, a microfiber cleaning cloth, lens cleaning solution, a blower, and a padded lens pouch. Photographers who use multiple lenses may also benefit from a filter case to protect the filter when not mounted.

The FS Plus Lens Protect Filter is part of that practical tradition, offering a straightforward solution for photographers who value lens protection, optical cleanliness, and dependable daily performance in a compact, easy-to-use format.
