The Nikon EL SLR Camera offers a nice change of pace from today's digital photography. This camera can be used with most Nikon F-mount lenses. It has a CdS cell center-weighted exposure metering with aperture priority auto exposure. The shutter speed has a maximum speed limit of 1/1000th of a second, while the film speed can be varied from 25 to 1600. This Nikon SLR has a fixed optical viewfinder with 92% of screen coverage. Additionally, the viewfinder has a focusing screen with Fresnel matte field that surrounds split-image rangefinder spot. A hot shoe is provided in the camera to mount an external flash. The camera is powered by a single 6V silver-oxide battery.
Optics and Focus
This Nikon camera is compatible with Nikon F-mount lenses. Its CdS cell TTL exposure metering offers a working range of EV 1 to EV18. An auto-exposure mode is provided in the camera, which sets the shutter speed according to the current aperture value. The camera’s ISO can be adjusted from 25 to 1600. Increase the shutter up to 1/1000th of a second to capture crisp photos of moving objects. Align the camera to the so that center split-image spot is directed at the subject to keep it in focus.
Sensor and Screen
The Nikon EL SLR’s viewfinder provides a screen coverage of 92%. Moreover, it has needles to indicate the shutter speed as well as notify you if the exposure is too high or too low.
Image and Video
The Nikon EL SLR camera works with 35mm film rolls. A frame counter is located at the top of the camera, which shows the number of exposed frames. The counter resets to its initial value if the camera back is opened. Advance the film by rotating the winding lever by 105°.
Other Features
An ISO-type hot shoe is provided to attach an external flash. When attached to the hot shoe, the flash automatically synchronizes with the shutter at 1/125th of a second. The self-timer function in this Nikon SLR camera lets you delay the shutter release by 8 to 10 seconds. There is a tripod socket located below to attach the camera on a stand. The camera uses a single 6V silver-oxide battery to power the exposure metering system.
