The Sony a7S II Mirrorless Digital Camera Body Only is a sophisticated gadget that is compact in size and loaded with features, and can deliver an impressive image performance. It is equipped with a 12.2 MP Full-Frame Exmor CMOS sensor that works in tandem with the BIONZ X image processor for shooting pictures and videos with an expansive dynamic range, a remarkable sensitivity, and minimal noise. Use the 169-point Fast Intelligent AF for focusing on your subjects in a fast and accurate manner, even in low-light conditions. The 5-axis SteadyShot optical image-stabilization function comes in handy for minimizing blurring by compensating for up to five types of camera shakes. The built-in NFC and WiFi connectivity options make it possible to share content online and establish a one-touch connection between the camera and similarly compatible devices, respectively.

Optics and Focus

The Sony Alpha a7S II is designed to be used with all Sony E-Mount lenses that provide astounding focal lengths and apertures. The extended ISO sensitivity ranges between 50 and 409,600, while the shutter speed ranges from 30 seconds to 1/8,000th of a second. The 169-point Fast Intelligent AF lets you focus on your desired subject automatically with immense speed and accuracy, even in dark areas. Additionally, the Enhanced Eye AF automatically detects and tracks a subject’s eye, even when the latter is in motion. The 5-axis SteadyShot optical image-stabilization function compensates for five types of camera shakes in order to reduce blurring. Use the numerous Exposure, White Balance, and Metering modes for assisting in a variety of photography scenarios.

Sensor and Screen

The Alpha a7S II features a 12.2 MP Full-Frame Exmor CMOS sensor, which has an RGB color filter array for capturing videos and pictures with rich colors. The 3-inch, tiltable TFT LCD screen offers a resolution of 1,228 k dots for brilliant clarity while viewing the captured content and browsing menus. The 0.5-inch XGA OLED Tru-Finder, which offers a 2,359,296-dot resolution, offers amazing clarity and contrast, with reduced reflection. Both the viewfinder and screen offer a coverage rating of 100%.

Image and Video

The Alpha a7S II lets you shoot JPEG and RAW photos at its maximum resolution of 4240×2832 pixels, and record 4K videos at a resolution of up to 3840×2160 pixels at about 60p in the XAVC S format. The BIONZ X image processor is capable of processing images at a rapid speed without losing out on quality. Also, you can capture up to 200 frames continuously at a maximum burst rate of 5 fps.

Other Features

The inbuilt NFC and WiFi connectivity options in this mirrorless camera enable you to share content online and establish a one-touch connection between the camera and similarly compatible gadgets, respectively. The S-Log3 Gamma Curve, in comparison to the previous-generation S-Log2, provides better tonal reproduction, right from shadow to mid-tone. The 13 Picture Effect modes allow you to express your creativity on your photos. Making this camera body tough and lightweight is the high-quality magnesium-alloy construction. This mirrorless camera is powered by a 1020 mAh NP-FW50 rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery.
