The Olympus PEN E-PL9 Mirrorless Digital Camera offers several advanced features in a compact body. You can attach Micro Four Thirds mount lenses with this camera. The camera sports an all-new 16 MP Live MOS sensor that offers accurate colors. This camera also features the latest TruePic VIII image processor to produce fine detail in both photo and 4K videos. The camera can take consecutive snaps with a rate of 8.6 fps. With the high-speed contrast detection AF system, the camera offers full-time AF functionality along with Face-Detection AF and Eye-Priority AF. There are various art filters in the camera so that you can create a unique mood in your images or videos. The 3-axis image stabilization reduces the effects of camera shakes. With the included BLS-50 Li-ion battery, the camera can take 350 shots and offer 80 minutes of video recording.

Optics and Focus

The camera accepts Micro Four Thirds mount lenses. In the high-speed contrast detection focusing system, there are up to 121 AF points that cover the most of the imaging area. You can select the focusing modes from single AF, continuous AF, single AF and manual AF, and AF tracking. The Face Detection AF and Eye Priority AF function offer crisp portrait shots. When you turn the focus ring, it activates the manual focus assist and the focus peaking function. For focus peaking, you can choose white or black peaking color.

Sensor and Screen

This Olympus camera captures photos and videos accurately thanks to the 16 MP Live MOS sensor. The sensor's dust reduction system utilizes the super sonic wave filter to keep the surface clean for maintaining image quality. With the 3.0-inch 1037k-dot touchscreen LCD, you can frame the scene as per your liking as well as playback recorded media. Also, the LCD can be tilted 80° and 180° in upward and downward direction, respectively. The brightness level of the LCD can also be adjusted by ±7. There are various display modes available for the LCD such as histogram mode and level gauge.

Image and Video

The camera captures JPEG and RAW format images at a maximum resolution of 4608×3456 dpi. You can also take a 3D images with the MPO format. This mirrorless camera can record 4K videos at 30 fps. The TruePic VIII image processor enhances the image detail as well as supports the video recording and 8.6 fps continuous shooting mode by speeding up the camera performance throughout its system. There are various art filters in the camera, which allow you to modify the look of the image or video. The E-Portrait auto mode smoothens the skin tones to enhance the overall image quality.

The camera has a built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that makes you transfer images up to four smartphones or operate the camera remotely. When paired with your smartphone, the camera reads the GPS information and tags the location to the photographs. The integrated microphone has a wind noise reduction to ensure clear sound results. You can also add a 30-second audio dubbing to still images. The camera has a built-in flash and hot shoe for flash attachment to work in dim-lit conditions.
