Our own lab, staffed by technicians who have been doing this for years — printing, framing, processing film, scanning and restoring photographs in Fairfield, NJ and Philadelphia, PA. Unique Photo has been in business since 1947.

Every roll is developed in our own lab, not sent out. Each store develops the film dropped off there; mail-ins are developed in Fairfield.

We develop it here
Color (C-41), slide (E-6) and black & white, hand processed in our own lab on a Fuji Frontier. Black & white times are set roll by roll.
Scanned and color corrected
A technician scans and color corrects every frame. Standard scans for sharing, high-res for big prints and editing.
Back to you
Scans on your own USB drive at no charge, or emailed and saved in your Unique Photo account. Negatives picked up, shipped back, or disposed of — your call.

Photo lab questions
- What does the Unique Photo photo lab do?
- Real photographic prints from wallets to 40x60 on glossy, lustre or matte paper, custom framed prints, film developing and scanning, photo restoration, dry mounting and video transfer — all done in our own lab — plus photo books, cards and gifts you design in your browser, printed by Fujifilm.
- Where is the photo lab?
- Inside both Unique Photo superstores: 123 US Highway 46 West, Fairfield, NJ 07004 and 28 South 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Prints and framed prints can also be ordered online.
- Do you develop film?
- Yes, in our own lab: color (C-41), black and white, and slide (E-6) film in 35mm, 120, 220, 110 and 4x5 sheets, with scans and prints. Order online and drop it at either store or mail it in with a prepaid label, or just bring it to the counter.
- Do you take passport photos?
- Yes, at both stores, ready in minutes: $9.99 for the photo and two 2x2 prints, made to the U.S. government rules for size, background and head position. Visa and ID photos too.
- Can you transfer VHS tapes and home movies?
- Yes. VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, 8mm and MiniDV tapes go to DVD or USB, priced per tape, and 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm movie reels are priced by the foot. Audio cassettes go to CD. Bring them to either store.
- What are the photo lab hours?
- Monday – Wednesday 10AM – 6PM, Thursday – Friday 10AM – 7PM, Saturday 10AM – 5PM, Sunday 10AM – 4PM (Eastern), at both stores. Order pick-ups and drop-offs are available any time during store hours.
- Can Unique Photo frame my print?
- Yes. Bring anything to the counter for custom framing, or design a framed print online — pick the moulding, mat and glass — and we print, mat and frame it in our lab before it ships.
- How long do you hold orders and negatives?
- Six months. Prints and negatives left at the lab more than six months after drop-off are considered abandoned and are discarded.
