Made for X-series cameras, the optical design of the lens comprises 16 elements in 12 groups, which include 1 super ED, 1 aspherical, and 3 ED lens elements to minimize color fringing and improve clarity. The lens has a floating focus system that comprises front and rear focus groups. With the linear AF motor, the lens quietly focuses on the object. The optical image stabilization in the lens is a team of a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor, which reduce camera shakes by five stops. This lens has a fluorine coating applied on it, which keeps it working in extreme weathers and temperatures. Also, it can be used with XF1.4× and XF2.0× teleconverters.
