OVERVIEW
The Viltrox AF 20mm f/2.8 Z is a sleek, ultra-wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras. Offering a broad 91.6° angle of view, it is perfect for expansive landscapes, immersive architecture shots, astrophotography, and creative perspectives in street photography. Its compact and lightweight build makes it a go-to choice for photographers and videographers who value portability without sacrificing optical performance.
Optical Performance
The optical design incorporates 10 elements in 8 groups, including high-quality extra-low dispersion and aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion. A multi-layer nano-coating is applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting, resulting in improved contrast and color fidelity even in challenging lighting conditions.
Fast f/2.8 Aperture
The bright f/2.8 maximum aperture offers enhanced low-light capabilities and depth of field control, enabling subject isolation and beautiful background blur. This makes it suitable for both still photography and video work in varied lighting environments.
Autofocus & Handling
Equipped with a quiet and precise STM (Stepping Motor) autofocus system, the Viltrox 20mm f/2.8 delivers fast and accurate focusing performance. The lens supports full-time manual focus override, giving photographers fine control when needed. Its lightweight 157g design and compact form factor make it easy to carry for long shooting sessions.
Close Focusing Ability
With a minimum focusing distance of just 7.5" / 19 cm, this lens allows for striking close-up shots with dramatic wide-angle perspectives. This capability is particularly useful for creative compositions and environmental detail shots.
Build Quality
The lens features a robust metal mount for durability and a smooth focus ring for precise manual adjustments. Its design is optimized for mirrorless systems, ensuring a balanced feel on Nikon Z-series bodies.
Ideal Applications
Perfect for landscape, architecture, travel, astrophotography, and vlogging, the Viltrox AF 20mm f/2.8 is a versatile ultra-wide prime that delivers professional-grade results in a highly portable package.
Recommended Accessories
Consider pairing this lens with a high-quality 52mm UV or circular polarizing filter, a compact travel tripod, and a weather-resistant camera bag for maximum shooting flexibility.
