OVERVIEW
The Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 Z is a professional-grade ultra-wide prime lens designed specifically for Nikon Z-mount full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras. With its expansive 105° angle of view, it delivers dramatic perspectives ideal for landscape, astrophotography, architecture, and creative videography. Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture ensures outstanding low-light performance and precise depth-of-field control, making it a versatile tool for both stills and video creators.
Optical Excellence
The lens incorporates an advanced optical formula of 15 elements in 12 groups, including Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass, high refractive index, and aspherical elements. This combination minimizes chromatic aberrations, distortion, and flare while delivering sharp, high-contrast images across the frame. A multi-layer HD Nano coating further enhances light transmission and reduces ghosting, ensuring vibrant, true-to-life colors.
Fast and Accurate Autofocus
Equipped with a stepping motor (STM), the Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 Z provides fast, silent, and precise autofocus performance, making it equally adept for high-resolution stills and smooth, quiet video focus pulls. Full-time manual focus override allows fine-tuning without switching modes.
Build Quality and Handling
Constructed from high-quality metal, the lens exudes durability and precision. Weather sealing at critical points offers protection against dust and moisture, allowing confident shooting in challenging environments. The tactile, knurled focus ring and customizable control ring offer intuitive handling for photographers and videographers alike.
Creative Versatility
The ultra-wide focal length pairs perfectly with the fast aperture for capturing sweeping landscapes with foreground emphasis, dramatic interiors, or the night sky in stunning detail. On APS-C Nikon Z bodies, it offers a 24mm equivalent field of view, making it a versatile wide-angle option for travel and street photography.
Ideal Applications
From expansive vistas to immersive architectural shots, and from Milky Way captures to dynamic video sequences, the Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 Z empowers creators to push their vision further. Its combination of optical performance, robust build, and modern autofocus makes it an outstanding addition to any Nikon Z shooter’s kit.
