The Sony Alpha a7R II Mirrorless Digital Camera provides a stunning picture and video quality and an impressive continuous shooting rate of 5 fps supported by the BIONX image processor. This camera works with Sony-E mount lenses. Its 24.3 MP full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor works in concert with the image processor to enhance clarity and color in low light conditions. The Sony Alpha a7R II can record full HD videos at 60 fps. This camera has a Fast Hybrid AF system that employs both contrast and phase detection to offer a fast autofocus response. The 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system ensures a smooth camera movement when using the camera handheld. There are other useful features in the camera such as face detection, S-Log2 Gamma setting, and picture effect modes that give you additional control over the final result.

Optics and Focus

The Sony Alpha a7R II features the 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization that minimizes camera shakes to ensure clarity during both image and video capture. With the Fast Hybrid AF system, the camera gives control over the focus. It includes a total of 117 focus points for phase detection and 25 points for contrast detection points. The improved algorithm offers fast focus response and accurate operation. You can adjust the camera's ISO sensitivity from 100 to 25600 and expand it down to ISO 50 in the extended mode. The camera uses both mechanical and electronic shutters that have a maximum speed of 1/8000th of a second.

Sensor and Screen

This mirrorless camera comes with a 24.3 MP full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor that offers accurate color and vibrancy in the image. It also has a detail reproduction and diffraction-reducing technology that provides precise picture details even with small aperture settings. You can compose the shot by using the 3-inch LCD screen that gives a 1228.8K dot resolution. The LCD also can be tilted 107° upwards and 41° downwards to support high or low angle shooting techniques. A 0.5-inch XGA OLED Tru-Finder is incorporated in the camera, which gives a 0.71× magnification and a 2.36M-dot resolution. Both the LCD and OLED viewfinder cover 100% of the frame area.

Image and Video

The camera records videos in full HD at a smooth frame rate of 60 fps. In photo mode, the camera captures images with a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 dpi in JPEG or RAW format. The BIONZ X image processor supports the continuous shooting mode that can take up to 50 frames at 5 fps. You can determine the look of your video with S-Log2 Gamma settings. It ensures better post-production flexibility by providing additional 1300% dynamic range than the standard REC709.

Other Features

The built-in Wi-Fi with NFC connectivity allows you to send images to smartphones for online sharing. Moreover, you can customize the camera functions from your smartphone via the PlayMemories Camera App. The camera has a hot shoe to mount an external flash unit. After the flash unit is attached, it can be synchronized to a maximum speed of 1/250th of a second. The self-timer can use to set the shutter release delay to 10 or 2 seconds. This camera functions on a 1020 mAh NP-FW50 Li-ion battery.
