OVERVIEW

The SP AF PRO-series teleconverters are intended to be used with lenses that are F/2.8 and have focal lengths of 90mm or longer. They include newly developed optical construction (4-group/5-element for 1.4X and 4-group/7-element for 2X). Overall contrast and resolution are improved over the whole image field as a result of the large improvement in relative lighting. Furthermore, chromatic aberration and astigmatism are better adjusted for than in universal-type teleconverters due to the employment of higher-grade glass materials and more advanced design methods. The image quality will be similar to that of the conventional Tamron teleconverters when used with lenses that have smaller maximum apertures (F/4 and F/5.6, for instance). The image quality of the SP teleconverters can really be compromised when utilized with lenses wider than 90mm.
