The Canon Rebel GII 35MM SLR is known for its near-silent autofocus performance and variety of shooting and scene modes. This camera can be fitted with Canon EF-mount lenses. The camera employs TTL maximum aperture metering with 6 zone silicon photocell. You can use the E-TTL and A-TTL modes for the built-in or mounted flash. The camera offers up to 10 auto exposure modes as well as auto bracketing option from +/- 2Ev in 1/2 steps. You can take advantage of the camera's TTL-CT-SIR Multi-BASIS autofocus system that includes three selectable AF points. The SLR-type roof mirror pentaprism viewfinder provides a bright view of the scene with 90% frame coverage. Important camera information such as shutter speed and ISO is displayed on the top LCD. The automatic film transport offers a continuous shooting rate of 1 fps. You can work in dark areas by using the built-in flash or attach an external flash to the hot shoe.

Optics and Focus

The camera is designed for Canon EF-mount lenses. You can choose the exposure metering from three different options, namely TTL, E-TTL, and A-TTL. The TTL metering includes three metering patterns, evaluative, center-weighted average, and partial metering. You can also select any one of the 7 autoexposure modes for the non-flash operation. There are three Program AE modes for the auto flash function. The TTL-CT-SIR Multi-BASIS autofocus system includes 3 AF points that can be manually selected. You can make the camera automatically select the AF points by pressing the shutter release button halfway down. The vertical focal plane electronic shutter has a maximum speed of 1/2000th of a second.

Sensor and Screen

The exposure metering of the camera is powered by a 6-zone silicon photocell. You can compose the shot by using the SLR-type roof mirror pentaprism viewfinder that has a 90% vertical and horizontal frame coverage. It has a 0.70× magnification at infinity with a 50mm lens. The viewfinder also has indicators for shutter speed, aperture, AE or FE lock, flash ready, and other camera-relevant information. The top LCD screen also shows the mentioned information along with battery level, frame counter, self-timer, and continuous shooting mode.

Image and Video

The camera takes shots with 35mm film rolls. This camera can take up to 9 exposures on a single frame to create a unique multi-exposure effect. The automatic loading mechanism winds the film to the first frame. You have the option of single and continuous shooting frame advance. The film rewound after each shot. Also, you can rewind the film from midway.

Other Features

The pop-up flash comes with a guide number of 39 feet at ISO 100 and flash duration of less than 1 ms. It has daylight color temperature and a recycle time of approximately 2 seconds. With the FE lock, you can keep the flash exposure reading fixed at any part of the shot. It only works in creative zone modes. The camera has automatic date imprinting feature for up to 2019. Release the command dial from the off position to enable automatic battery check. The camera uses two 3V CR123A or DL123A lithium batteries that makes it capture up to 85 exposures in normal temperature without any flash use.
