The Canon C100II is an advanced camera that has video-recording capabilities that surpass those of the preceding C100 camera. Paired with Canon EF-mount lenses, this camera corrects peripheral illumination and compensates for the light fall-off from the corners of images. This camera comes with a mic bracket that has two XLR inputs and a stereo microphone shock mount. The C100II video camera sports a Super 35mm CMOS sensor and a Digic DV 4 image processor to produces photographs 8.3 MP native resolution and deliver impressive performance during when recording videos. This camera uses two exposure modes: auto iris control and manual. Also, its ISO sensitivity can be adjusted between 320 and 102400 in 1/3-step increments. The built-in ND filters have three density levels for reducing exposures by 2 stops, 4 stops, and 6 stops.

Optics and Focus

The Canon C100II can be paired up with select Canon EF lenses. It comes with a push-auto iris control exposure mode that automatically makes changes in the aperture of the attached lens, as per the light intensity in a given scene. A dedicated button offers one-touch autofocus, while a dual-pixel CMOS AF system ensures fixed focus on a moving object. This video camera is compatible with select Canon EF lenses as well as new-generation STM lenses too. Thanks to a wide ISO range of 320 to 102400, the camera is more equipped to deliver quality performance, regardless of how poor the lighting conditions are.

Sensor and Screen

The C100II camera from Canon is equipped a Super 35mm CMOS sensor that brings out video results that match the standards of the conventional Super 35mm film. Also, the sensor helps reduce noise when shooting in low light. A 3.5-inch OLED display facilitates viewing of the given scene or playing back recorded videos. You may adjust the brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, and backlight illumination on the display. The OLED screen can tilt 100° and rotate a complete 180°. The inbuilt 0.24-inch electronic viewfinder offers a 960×540 resolution for viewing the scene before capturing, and a diopter adjustment range of +2.0 to -5.5 m.

Image and Video

The Canon C100II offers 1080p video recording at 60 fps and can record videos in AVCHD. A video file is automatically split each time its size exceeds 2 GB. You may use the Canon Data Import to automatically join these files into a single video. The camera alternatively provides slow- and fast-motion video captures in the MP4 format. You may use the three built-in ND filters to compensate for overexposure in the scene, by 2, 4, and 6 stops. With the Canon Log Gamma, the camera records images having subdued contrast and sharpness. It maintains the dynamic color range and facilitates color grading during post-production. This camera boasts a continuous-recording function that creates in and out points in a video on every press of the start-stop button. This function is compatible with the Grass Valley's EDIUS Pro 7 software.

Other Features

The Canon C100II allows you to monitor the video waveform in standard and RGB modes. You may move the magnification center of the camera to one of the 25 locations throughout the image frame by using the joystick. The camera has a removable top handle that incorporates three XLR microphone inputs and one microphone shock mount. With the XLR inputs, the camera can record 48 kHz linear PCM audio in two channels. With its LANC compatibility, the camera can be operated from a distance with a remote terminal. This Canon video camera runs on a 7.4 V DC BP-955 battery pack.
