The Canon Rebel T6 is excellent for beginners who have a knack for photography. This camera is designed to work with both Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses. It has an 18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4+ image processor to render vibrant pictures and Full HD videos. This camera can also take continuous shots at 3 fps. Compose the frame or playback recorded media on the 3.0-inch 920K-dot LCD. Also, you can use the optical viewfinder, which has a 0.8× magnification and 95% frame coverage, for image composition. The 9-point phase detection AF system ensures focus accuracy in low-contrast lighting scenes. In the Scene Intelligent Auto mode, the camera automatically adjusts the exposure metering and white balance as per the scene lighting.

Optics and Focus

The Camera fits both Canon EF and EF-S lenses. You can choose the exposure metering pattern from center-weighted average, evaluative metering, and partial metering. In the 9-point AF system, a single cross-type point is located at the center to offer high-degree of precision when working under low contrast scenes. Also, the AI Servo AF allows you to take crisp shots of moving subjects. The maximum native ISO of 6400 can be extended up to 12800. You can adjust the exposure compensation of ±5 EV in 1/3 or 1/2 EV steps.

Sensor and Screen

The Canon T6 is fitted with the 18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor that provides fine image details along with vibrant colors. A dust reduction system is integrated into the sensor design to keep its surface clean to maintain image quality. The 3.0-inch LCD monitor, which has a 920K-dot resolution, can be used to compose the scene and playback captured photos and videos. The wide viewing angle makes you read the screen from up to 170°. Image composition can also be done by using the optical viewfinder. It has 0.8× magnification and -2.5 to +0.5 m diopter adjustment. The optical viewfinder and LCD provide 95% and 100% frame coverage respectively.

Image and Video

The Canon Rebel T6 captures still images of 5184×3456 dpi resolution in JPEG or RAW format. Turn the mode dial to video to record Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps. The shooting mode can take 3 burst shots per second. To support the Full HD video recording and continuous shooting, the DIGIC 4+ image processor speeds up the camera performance to provide fast processing speeds. With the Basic+ or Creative Auto modes, you can give a distinct feel to the images or videos. The video snapshot feature can be used to combine 2, 4, or 8-second video clips into a single file. The Scene Intelligent Auto mode automatically decides the best setting for the exposure and white balance.

Other Features

Send images to smartphones or remotely control the camera with the built-in Wi-Fi with NFC. The pop-up flash has a guide number of 30.2 feet at ISO 100. You can attach an external flash to the hot shoe contact. The shutter release can be delayed by 2 or 10 seconds with the self-timer. The camera functions on an LP-E10 Li-ion battery.
