Sony FE C 16-35mm T/3.1 G E-Mount Lens

Overview

The Sony FE C 16-35mm T/3.1 G E-Mount Lens is a wide-angle zoom lens from Sony's "Cinema Lens Series", & is designed for full-frame E-mount cinema cameras. Its constant T/3.1 aperture provides a consistent performance throughout the zoom range, while also benefiting your low-light shooting abilities.

The lens' zoom can be manually operated, but also includes a detachable servo unit, which assits with creating fast or slow zooms. The zoom can also be controlled by the camera's handle, or a separately available external grip.

The FE C 16-35mm T/3.1 G Lens is designed to be compatible with standard cine follow-focus, & matte box rigs. It features a 0.8 MOD gear, as well as a 114mm lens diameter to meet these standards.

Its optical design features two extra-low dispersion elements, two XA elements, & three aspherical elements, in order to reduce chromatic & spherical aberrations, while improving image sharpness & clarity. A Nano AR coating has been applied, in order to control ghosting & flaring, while increasing contrast & color fidelity in stronger lighting conditions.

The lens's optical design is complemented by its 11-blade iris, which when used with selective focusing techniques, provides smooth & soft-edged bokeh in your images. A focus switch is included to enable the ability to quickly switch between AF & MF while shooting, & the lens's linear response manual focus provides responsive, lag-free control, to allow for smooth operation. Its focus ring provides 120º rotation, with fine control, & is marked in feet. The included switch also features a setting that enables click-stops, allowing you to feel as well when focusing.

Enhanced Hybrid AF is featured to support phase & contrast-detection, while also supporting autoexposure, which is beneficial when using a Sony cine camera, such as the PXW-FX9.
