OVERVIEW
The Sony ECM-W5T is a versatile wireless transmitter microphone engineered to expand an existing ECM-W5 setup or function as a standalone recorder. When linked to the ECM-W5 receiver (sold separately), it sends high-quality digital audio directly to compatible Sony cameras via the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe. With 64GB of internal memory, flexible magnetic or clip mounting, a locking lavalier jack, and an ergonomic handheld shape, it is ideal for interviews, field reporting, and video production.
High-Resolution Audio & Wireless Performance
When paired with the ECM-W5 receiver, the transmitter supports audio sampling up to 96 kHz/24-bit or 48 kHz/32-bit float. Supported Sony cameras record 32-bit float audio straight into the video file, simplifying sync work and allowing seamless dynamic range adjustments in post-production. Using Bluetooth hopping technology, the system delivers low-latency, dropout-resistant audio up to 1,640 feet (500 meters) line-of-sight. Adding multiple transmitters to a compatible setup allows up to four speakers to be recorded on separate camera tracks.
Onboard Memory & Standalone Capture
Featuring 64GB of internal storage, the ECM-W5T can record independently without needing a camera or receiver, making it ideal as a dedicated audio recorder or a safety backup during wireless shoots. Direct onboard REC controls allow fast operation, while recorded files can be exported to a computer or mobile device via a USB-C connection or through a compatible charging case.
Mounting Options & External Inputs
The transmitter includes a 3.5mm TRS mono input with a locking connector to prevent accidental disconnections when using external lavaliers like the Sony ECM-L1. For mounting, the microphone offers integrated clip and magnet options for subtle placement on clothing. Its discreet design keeps branding minimal on camera, while its vertical profile comfortable fits in hand for live interviews and streaming.
Battery Runtime & Power Sync
The transmitter delivers up to 7 hours of continuous operation on a single charge, which extends up to 11 hours when utilizing the system's charging case and a camera-powered receiver. Clear LED indicators show power, recording, and wireless link status at a distance, and the unit can automatically power on in tandem with a connected camera.
