OVERVIEW

The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens has the capability to take wide-angle shots of vast landscapes and large structures. This Sony E-mount lens comes with a wide aperture that lets you capture well-illuminated images even at night. The lens includes 16 optical elements arranged in 13 groups. Three FLD, two SLD, and two aspherical elements are incorporated in the lens construction to reduce both chromatic and spherical aberrations. The super multi-layer coating minimizes ghosting and lens flare. This lens uses a stepping motor for the autofocus operation, which lets it capture a detailed shot of an object that is 25 cm away. A smooth circular bokeh is formed in the blurred background by the 9 aperture blades. This lens is made of a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material along with traditional metals to ensure functionality in different temperatures. Moreover, the dust- and moisture resistant design makes the lens work in any weather condition.

Elements / Groups: 16 / 13
Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
