OVERVIEW

The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is ideal for professional videographers, desiring to create cinematic videos for client projects or independent work. Sporting a 24–48mm camera, the Mavic 2 Zoom offers 2× optical zoom that takes you closer to the subjects. The 12 MP 1.23-inch MOS sensor handles the imaging work of the camera. The camera records videos in 4K quality in H.265 codec that contains 50% more information than the standard H.264 codec. When shooting in low-light, the HyperLight ensures high-quality images with reduced noise. The OcuSync 2.0 offers 1080p video transmission at 40 Mbps with 120 ms latency. It also optimizes the bandwidth by switching between 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands. The drone employs the omnidirectional obstacle sensing technology to warn about the obstacles in the path. With the ActiveTrack 2.0, the drone camera senses the object in the frame with respect to its path while flying through difficult terrain. The drone includes different flight modes such as POI 2.0 and Waypoint 2.0 to eliminate complications during flight control. On a fully charged four-cell LiPo battery, the Mavic 2 Zoom provides a flight time of 31 minutes.

Optics and Focus

The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom comes with a 24–48mm camera that is attached to a 3-axis gimbal. It provides a 2× optical zoom for allowing you to capture photos or videos from a wide-angle or mid-level range. You can zoom further to get close to the subjects without alerting them. The Mavic 2 Zoom uses both contrast and phase detection methods for better accuracy with 40% faster response speed than previous versions. Enable the Dolly Zoom feature to create cinematic warping effects.

Sensor and Screen

The optical zoom camera of the drone has a 1.23-inch CMOS sensor. For seamless video transmission, the Mavic 2 Zoom uses the OcuSync 2.0 technology to download 1080p videos from up to 5 miles at a speed of 40 Mbps. The dual-band auto-switching ensures the download speed remains constant.

Image and Video

The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom captures 4K videos in H.265 for recording 50% additional information. When shooting in Full HD, the camera offers 4× lossless zoom. The camera can take 9 pictures with its telephoto lens and patches them to create a 48 MP image. Thanks to the HyperLight mode, the drone camera offers enhanced low light sensitivity with minimal noise. The hyperlapse function allows you to set the flight path of the drone when recording time-lapses. You can assign the drone to follow a circular, pre-determined, or waypoint-based path as well as move it freely as you desire. The drone also records 180° panoramas and lets you save JPEG and RAW shots in microSD.

Other Features

The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom comes with the ActiveTrack 2.0 feature that recognizes the subject's path and follows it accurately even if an obstruction comes between them. It has front dual vision sensors that create a 3D map of the environment for giving the navigation system an idea of the terrain. The Mavic 2 Zoom also keeps a fast-moving object such as a car in the frame, which is travelling at speeds up to 72 Kmph. With the 3-axis gimbal, the drone offers a smooth movement. The flight navigation is handled by the advanced pilot assistance system for ensuring safety when flying through the set flight path. To aid low-light navigation, an auxiliary light is integrated on the drone's belly to give a clear view for the two down-facing sensors.
