Low-cost ways to do exposure bracketing remotely on a Canon 700D

I’m looking for a cheaper alternative to Canon’s expensive external remote for a Canon 700D. I want to trigger exposures without touching the camera, ideally for multi-exposure work, and if possible adjust exposure timing or bracket shots remotely. Are there affordable options for this besides the official accessory?

There are a lot of options on Amazon, like this one. The basic idea is you put the camera in bulb mode and use the intervalometer to control the shutter. Some may have AEB settings, or you can adjust it yourself.

Yes. A common low-cost option is a third-party intervalometer/remote. These are widely available and can control long exposures by putting the camera in Bulb mode, so you can trigger the shutter without touching the camera. Some models may also offer auto-exposure bracketing features, depending on the unit.

Another option is Magic Lantern, a free add-on firmware for compatible Canon cameras. Community answers note that it can provide exposure bracketing in-camera, including by shutter speed or ISO, which may remove the need for an external controller.

If you want more advanced remote control, CamRanger was also suggested. It can do much more than a basic remote, but it is not the budget choice.

So, for the cheapest route, look at a third-party intervalometer or try Magic Lantern if your camera supports it.
