I’m looking for a wireless remote for a Canon EOS 50D. The Canon RC-5 and RC-6 don’t appear to be compatible, and I need something that can trigger Bulb exposures without being as expensive as Canon’s LC-5. What affordable wireless options work with the 50D?

I don't know what your budget is, but I use the Hähnel Giga-T Pro with my 5D2, which allows for bulb exposures. It also acts as an interval timer for time lapse work, and as a standard wireless remote.

For the Canon 50D, the Canon RC-5 and RC-6 are not the right option. Based on the 50D manual, Canon’s own wireless choice is the LC-5, but it’s generally considered expensive and more than many people need.
A well-liked alternative is the Hähnel Giga T Pro. Community members report using it successfully with Canon bodies for:
- wireless shutter release
- Bulb exposures
- interval timer/time-lapse functions
That makes it a strong fit if you want more than a basic trigger and need reliable long-exposure control.
Another possible route is using PocketWizard-style radio triggers, but the community answers don’t confirm a specific 50D setup, so the safest recommendation here is the Hähnel unit.
If your main requirement is wireless Bulb control on a budget, the Hähnel Giga T Pro is the clearest recommendation from the answers provided.
