How can I import only photos, not videos, into Lightroom?

When importing a folder in Lightroom, I sometimes have both photo and video files mixed together from the camera card. Is there a way to exclude videos during import so only image files are added to the catalog? If there isn’t a normal setting, is there a workaround in the Import dialog?

Yes! It turns out that there is a hidden option: hold the alt (option) key, and the "Check All" and "Uncheck All" buttons turn into "Check Videos" and "Uncheck Videos", respectively. From there, you can easily choose to import only photos or only videos, depending on what you need to do.

Yes. In Lightroom’s Import dialog, hold the Alt/Option key and the usual “Check All” / “Uncheck All” buttons change to “Check Videos” / “Uncheck Videos.” Use “Uncheck Videos” to leave only photo files selected for import.
If that option isn’t available in your version, a manual workaround is to select all files, sort by media type, select the video files as a group, and uncheck one of the selected videos to deselect them all before importing.
