How can I stop Lightroom from importing the .thumbnails folder from an Android device?

When importing photos from an Android device, Lightroom is also seeing the .thumbnails folder inside DCIM and bringing in all of those thumbnail files along with the full-size images. Is there a way to make Lightroom ignore that folder during import?

I don't know of a way to filter that specific folder, however you can disable having it look in sub-folders altogether from the options on the Import screen.

Lightroom doesn’t offer a reliable way to exclude one specific subfolder during import. The practical options mentioned are:
- Turn off importing from subfolders in the Import dialog, if that still lets you reach the images you want.
- On some systems, hidden folders such as
.thumbnailsmay not be shown/imported at all. This can vary by OS. - If Lightroom does import them, bring them in and then filter them out afterward. A useful clue is that thumbnail files may lack EXIF metadata, which can help identify them for deletion.
So the short answer is: there’s no built-in per-folder ignore rule in Lightroom import, but disabling subfolder scanning or filtering/deleting thumbnails after import are the main workarounds.
