The Nikon FE 35MM SLR Chrome Camera comes in a compact size, encasing aperture priority automatic metering and accurate match-needle manual metering. This camera has a 50mm F/1.8 Series E lens provided with it. You can also use this camera for other Nikon AI lenses. The camera has a center-weighted TTL exposure metering via two SPD cells. This Nikon SLR camera offers an adjustable ISO range of ASA 12 to 4000, a maximum shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second. The fixed eye-level viewfinder shows the current shutter speed, aperture, flash status, manual metering scale and exposure compensation markers. The hot shoe contact can be used to connect an electronic flash unit. Additional functions in the camera include a self-timer, DOF preview button, memory lock, and multi-exposure.

Focus and Optics

The camera comes with a 50mm F/1.8 Series E lens that has 6 elements arranged in 5 groups. Each element is coated to ensure clarity and contrast. The lens can manually focus on an object as close as 0.6 m. With the 7-blade diaphragm, the lens offers a nearly-rounded bokeh. You can attach a 52mm filter to the front metal thread. The camera has an aperture-priority AE mode that decides correct setting for the shutter while keeping the aperture locked in its position. This camera can work in varied light conditions with its ISO range of ASA 12 to 4000. With the maximum shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second, the camera can take clear shots a fast-moving object. The Nikon FE SLR has a Matte Fresnel focusing screen with a central split-image rangefinder spot and a microprism ring.

Sensor and Screen

The camera has a fixed eye-level pentaprism viewfinder with a built-in TTL exposure meter. It lets you review the set shutter speed and aperture value so that you can determine the exposure accurately when manually metering. Two exposure meter needles and compensation markers are also provided to provide further assistance.

Image and Video

The camera takes pictures on a 35mm film negative. This camera has a single-stroke advance lever that offers 135° throw angle and a 30° stand-off angle. You may also use the advance lever as an on-off switch. The self-additive frame counter automatically resets to the ""S"" value when the camera back is opened. This camera has an option to use the MD-11 motor drive for automatic film winding.

Other Features

The camera accepts electronic flash head on its ISO-type hot shoe. You can synchronize the mounted flash with the camera shutter up to 1/125th of a second. The Nikon EF SLR camera has a self-timer that can be used to delay the shutter release up to 14 seconds. You may keep the current film information as a reminder in the rear memo holder. Two 1.5V silver-oxide batteries power the exposure metering.
