Take a break from today's digital photography with the Minolta XG-1 SLR camera. It can be used with both Minolta MD and MC lenses. The camera has a center-weighted CdS TTL exposure metering. You can set the auto-exposure mode to the aperture priority. The Minolta XG-1 SLR can be used for camera films having a speed between 25 to 1600 ASA. The camera comes with a horizontal-travel focal plane electronic shutter that offers a maximum speed of 1/1000th of a second. You can attach an external flash to this camera with the hot shoe and PC terminal. The camera has additional features such as a self-timer minimum aperture lock, and depth-of-field preview.
Focus and Optics
The Minolta XG-1 SLR comes with the aperture-priority auto exposure mode that automatically adjusts the shutter speed while keeping the lens diaphragm setting fixed. Additionally, the minimum aperture lock function avoids overexposures. The Minolta XG-1 comes with an electronic shutter that has a maximum speed of 1/1000th of a second. The camera exposure metering provides a working range of EV 2 to EV 17 at ASA 100. You can adjust the exposure manually down to a minimum illumination of ±2 EV.
Sensor and Screen
The camera has a pentaprism viewfinder for allowing you to compose the shot. It covers 93% of the screen area and magnifies the image 0.87× of the actual scene. The camera also shoes shutter speed, exposure range, and flash status with the illuminating LEDs. The microprism spot in the center can be referenced during the focusing work.
Image and Video
The camera can be used with 35mm films to take pictures. You can manually advance the film with the provided lever that has a 130° winding angle and 30° stand-off. Also, the optional Auto Winder G accessory can be attached to this camera for automatic film loading. The frame counter denotes the number of exposed frames. An ISO table is located at the rear side of the camera, which denotes both DIN and ASA values.
Other Features
The camera accepts an electronic flash on its hot shoe contact. You can synchronize the connected flash at 1/60th of a second. A flashbulb can also be attached to the camera via PC terminal and synchronize at 1/15th of a second. You can use the self-timer function to delay the shutter release by 10 seconds. The camera requires a 1.5v button cell to power its auto-exposure function, electronic shutter, and viewfinder LEDs.
