The Minolta SRT 202 35MM Film SLR was introduced in 1977 as a successor to previous the SRT line cameras. This camera can fit SR-mount lenses. The TTL CLC metering has a sensitivity to work within the range of EV 3 to EV 17 at ASA 100. You can adjust the film speed setting from ASA 6 to 6400 manually. The mechanical shutter has a maximum speed of 1/1000th of a second. With the large quick return mirror, the camera prevents image cut-off when using super telephoto lenses. The eye-level pentaprism viewfinder covers 94% of the frame area. You can mount an external flash to the hot shoe or use off-camera flash units via the PC sync terminal.
Optics and Focus
This camera is compatible with SR-mount lenses. The Minolta SRT 202 is equipped with the TTL CLC metering system. It has a working range of EV 3 to EV 17 for an ASA 100 film speed. You can select the ASA speed by turning the dial. The same dial can also be used for adjusting the shutter speed from 1 to 1/1000th of a second.
Sensor and Screen
The eye-level pentaprism viewfinder gives a bright view of the scene. It offers 0.86× magnification with a 50mm lens at infinity and covers 94% of the frame. The viewfinder also has a Mat-Fresnel screen with a split-image spot surrounded by a microprism band. You can reference the metering needle in the viewfinder for determining the correct exposure setting. The shutter speed and exposure setting are located at the bottom side of the viewfinder.
Image and Video
The Minolta SRT 202 takes photographs with 35mm films. You can wind the film in a single 120° stroke or in a series of short strokes. The 20° unengaged movement allow offsetting from the body. The cameras has Safe Load indicator to ensure the film is properly aligned for the winding operation. You can take multiple exposures on a single frame by using the rewind button.
Other Features
The hot shoe contact can be used for mounting an external flash. You can synchronize the shutter speed with the mounted flash at up to 1/60th of a second. The PC terminal allows synchronizing flashbulbs at all slower speed settings than X-sync. Delay the shutter release by enabling the self-timer. Refer the ASA and DIN scale provided at the rear for film speed conversion. The memo holder can be used to keep a note of the film currently loaded into the camera. You have to insert a 1.35 V battery into the camera to function its light metering system.
