The Fuji Fujica GW690 is a medium format rangefinder film camera released in 1978. Designed for professionals, the camera has a fixed 90mm f/3.5 lens that includes 5 elements in 4 groups. The camera has a Seiko #0 shutter with a maximum speed of 1/500th of a second. You can use the "T" shutter setting for time exposure shots. Choose the roll type from short-roll and regular 120 and 220 films by using the film selector. The shutter actuation counter has a maximum limit of 999 and counts in 10. This camera has a circular rangefinder window rather than square shape found in other cameras. The viewfinder offers 0.75× magnification and 95% field of view at 1 m.

Optics and Focus

The camera comes with a permanently attached lens that has a 90mm focal length and f/3.5 aperture opening. Its optical design includes 5 elements arranged in 5 groups. The lens covers a diagonal view of 58°. You can stop down the lens to f32. The lens can be manually focused down to a minimum distance of 1 m. A 67mm filter can be attached to the lens with a screw. The retractable hood prevents stray light from entering the lens.

Sensor and Screen

The viewfinder is coupled with the double image rangefinder to assist you in focusing work. With the viewfinder, you get a 0.75× magnification of the image. The camera offers 95% frame coverage at 1 m and 92% at infinity.

Image and Video

The camera accepts 120 short, 120, and 220 roll films. It provides an actual picture size of 56mm×82.6mm. These films can be selected by turning the dedicated dial located on the top. The film can be manually winded by after each shot by using the 2-stroke advance lever. As the camera comes with the double exposure prevention, each frame in the roll is utilized to its full potential.

Other Features

The Fujica GW690 has an accessory shoe that allows you to mount external flash units. You can see the number of exposed frames in the frame counter. Also, the frame counter automatically resets if you open the camera back. A strap can be attached to the provided lug. You can fix this camera on a tripod with its mounting thread located at the bottom.
