The Sony Alpha a77 II is a versatile DSLR camera that offers professional photographers a combination of advanced technology and latest features. It has a 24.3 MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ X Image Processor, which produces high-resolution images with minimum noise and an ISO sensitivity of up to 25,600. The 79-Point Wide-Coverage AF system and the Translucent Mirror technology allow the camera to provide a fast, full-time continuous focusing performance in almost any environment. Use the inbuilt WiFi connectivity for transferring images instantly to similarly compatible devices or sharing them on social networking, E-Mail, and cloud storage sites.

Optics and Focus

The Alpha a77 II from Sony is designed to use with all Sony Alpha and Minolta lenses with modest apertures and focal lengths. The camera’s gapless on-chip lens design fills the gaps between the neighboring pixels with optimized lenses, which match the angle of incidence to gather light and produce images with an edge-to-edge quality and sharpness. The 79-Point Wide-Coverage AF system and the Translucent Mirror technology allow the camera to provide a fast, full-time continuous focusing performance in almost any environment. Use the Clear Image Zoom function for magnifying the center of scenes by up to 2x to effectively extend the reach of all focal length lenses. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 50 to 25,600 while the shutter speed ranges from 30 seconds to 1/8000 of a second.

Sensor and Screen

The Sony Alpha a77 II has a 24.3 MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor, which lets you capture high-quality videos and photos. The 3.0-inch 3-way tiltable LCD screen comes with a resolution of up to 1228 k dots, which lets you view your captured content with immense clarity. The 0.5-inch 2359 k-dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder helps in seeing your subjects even under tough lighting conditions where it becomes difficult to use the LCD screen.

Image and Video

The Alpha a77 II DSLR camera from Sony is capable of capturing photos at its highest resolution of 6000 x 4000 pixels in well-known formats such as JPEG and RAW. It even records videos at a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080p at 60 fps in the AVCHD Ver. 2.0, MP4, and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 formats. The BIONZ X Image Processor can process images at a rapid speed with a modest attention to detail. The Sensor-Shift image stabilization makes it easy to capture blur-free pictures with decent sharpness. The TRILUMINOS color support comes in handy for producing rich, natural colors whenever images are viewed on a TRILUMINOS display. Use the Dynamic Range Optimizer for improving images with backlit scenes or subjects with high contrast where details can be lost in the highlights or shadows.

Other Features

The inbuilt WiFi connectivity in the Sony Alpha a77 II DSLR camera lets you transfer images instantly to similarly compatible devices or share them on social networking, E-Mail, and cloud storage sites. You can also use the NFC facility to flawlessly facilitate a one-touch connection between the camera and similarly compatible devices.

Control Specifications
ISO Speed: Auto, 100-25600 (Extended Mode: 50-25600)
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.

Exposure Compensation: -5 EV to +5 EV (in 1/3 or 1/2 EV steps)
Exposure Compensation:
Refers to the option for the user to override the internal light meter in the camera to either OVER or UNDER expose based on middle/18% gray. This is especially useful when photographing either extremely white/bright scenes or when in very dark/dimly lit scenarios.
