Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture makes it an ideal lens for portraiture. The aperture pairs with a rounded nine-blade diaphragm to improve selective focus and shallow depth of field imaging with smooth bokeh. The lens also has a Hyper Sonic Motor, which produces quick, smooth, and quiet autofocus performance, with full-time manual focus override. Its Thermally Stable Composite material is designed for durability in a broad range of environments, while its brass bayonet mount offers rigidity and mounting precision.

Designed for FX-Format Nikon F-mount DSLR's, this prime telephoto lens can also be used on DX models, providing a 202.5mm equivalent focal length.
