The Panasonic Lumix GH5 works wonders for aspiring photographers and film-makers. This mirrorless camera can be used with Micro Four Thirds lenses. The camera provides 20 MP stills and 4K crop-less video thanks to its Digital Live MOS sensor. Also, the Venus Engine processor improves the camera performance and enhances the image quality. The camera utilizes its HD processing capabilities to produce 6K and 4K continuous still shots. This camera has an OLED viewfinder that offers a stunning 3.86m-dot resolution. Additionally, a 3.2-inch 1.62m-dot RGBW LCD monitor is provided benefit video applications as well as low or high angle shooting techniques. You can employ replay or backup recording by using the dual UHS-II SD card slots. Use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 to transfer images to smartphones or control the camera wirelessly. The camera body is built from magnesium alloy and has weather sealing at the joints, buttons, and dials.

Optics and Focus

The camera is compatible with Micro Four Third mount lens family. You have the option to choose the exposure metering from three patterns, namely center-weighted average, multiple, and spot metering. The 225-area advanced Depth-From-Defocus AF system offers a fast response in 0.05 seconds. As it is based on contrast-detection AF, the autofocus system is ideal for both picture capture and video shooting. Enable the Starlight AF feature ensures accurate focus performance in low light down to -4 EV. The Touch MF assist lets you achieve cinematic focus pulls. You can either choose the mechanical shutter to capture distortion-free shots of moving objects or the electronic shutter for the silent operation that is beneficial for wildlife photography or video recording.

Sensor and Screen

The camera uses the 20.3 MP Digital Live MOS sensor for capturing photos and UHD videos. As the sensor has omitted the low-pass filter, the imagery becomes sharp and vivid. The 3.2-inch 1.62m-dot rear RGBW LCD monitor can be tilted to use the camera from different angles. Also, the touchscreen design makes it easy to navigate through different camera settings and menus. The large OLED Live View Finder provides 3.86m-dot resolution and 0.76× magnification. With both viewfinder and LCD, you get screen coverage of 100%.

Image and Video

Capture 20 MP images with a maximum resolution of 5184×3888 dpi with the Lumix GH5. Turn the mode dial to movie mode to record 4K videos without any cropping. The 6K and 4K continuous image capture modes offer three burst modes. Of these, the first mode captures 18 MP stills at 30 fps, the second mode takes burst shots prior to one second and after pressing the shutter button, and the third mode lets you select a particular moment in the video to save it as a single 8 or 18 MP frame. The camera uses the Dual I.S. 2 that combines its sensor-shift mechanism to the lens' image stabilization to compensate for 5 stops of camera shakes approximately. The Venus engine processor enhances the overall processing performance and image quality.

Other Features

Enable the Wi-Fi with NFC or Bluetooth 4.2 BLE to transfer images or remotely control the camera. The dual UHS-II SD card slots allow you to employ relay or backup recording. You can process RAW images in-camera. The camera offers up to 400 shots per charge of a DMW-BLF19 battery.
