The Olympus Stylus Epic is a 35mm film camera designed to suit the simple point-and-shoot style photography in all weather conditions. This camera sports a wide-angle lens having a 35mm focal length and f/2.8 aperture. You can set the ISO range from 50–3200 for DX-coded films. The integrated flash comes with an effective range of 1.1 to 13.5 feet at ISO 100. You can use one of the three flash modes apart from the auto setting. The camera's autofocus system determines the distance between the object and lens in three locations to make the focusing work easy even with center-off subjects. You can use this camera in inclement weather thanks to its water-resistant body.
Optics and Focus
The camera has a wide-angle lens incorporated in its design. Its 35mm focal range makes it possible for framing large scenery in a single frame. Moreover, the wide aperture of f/2.8 offers bright images and shallow depth of field. You can adjust the ISO range for DX-coded films from 50–3200. The camera has an autofocus system that allows you to take photos of objects from a distance of 1.1 feet to infinity. Its multi-beam AF function ensures the subjects, which are off-center in the frame, are correctly focused.
Sensor and Screen
The camera comes with a real-image viewfinder that gives a 0.45× magnification of the image. It provides a bright view of the scene, allowing you to frame the shot conveniently. The camera has an LCD screen that shows the current flash mode, film, self-timer, spot metering and battery status.
Image and Video
You have to use the 35mm DX-coded film for this camera. The camera has an automatic film winding operation. At the end of the film, the camera automatically rewinds it. You can also rewind the film any time by pushing the mid-roll rewind button.
Other Features
This point-and-shoot film camera has a built-in flash with an effective range of 1.1 to 13.5 feet at ISO 100. The flash varies its power depending the subject is whether back-lit or under artificial light. You can use the self-timer to delay the shutter release. With an optional RC-200, the camera can be operated from a distance. The water-resistant housing of the camera prevents water from seeping inside.
