The Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic SLR Camera was exclusively built for the American market. You can use this camera M42 lens mount lenses. The camera has an average behind-the-lens exposure meter that can be coupled to the shutter and aperture. This camera offers film speed setting range of ASA 20 to 16000. The focal plane shutter provides a maximum speed of 1/1000th of a second. Look through the eye-level pentaprism viewfinder to compose the shot. The viewfinder shows the metering needle and the shutter speed. A battery indicator is also incorporated in the finder. The camera includes other notable features such as self-timer, automatic reset-type frame counter, and individual X-sync and FP-flash terminals.
Focus and Optics
You can attach M42 mount lenses to this camera. The camera takes shots by using its behind-the-lens exposure metering. It allows you adjust the aperture or shutter values to determine the correct exposure for the current lighting condition. This camera comes with a maximum ISO limit of 1600 and shutter speed up to 1/1000th of a second. The camera can be used to multiple exposures on a single frame.
Sensor and Screen
The Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic SLR camera comes with a pentaprism finder having a Fresnel lens and microprism screen. It provides a magnification of 0.88× with a 50nm lens. You can view the exposure metering needle and shutter speed in the viewfinder. The exposure needle aids you during metering to show whether the shutter or film speed falls off the meter or not. Thanks to the instant return type mirror, the image blur is minimized when metering the camera.
Image and Video
Use can feed a 35mm film roll into the camera to get up to 24 or 36 exposures. The ratchet-type rapid wind lever offers a film off-set angle of 10° and clearance of 160°. After reaching the end of the roll, you can rewind the film by using the quick rewind crank. A film reminder dial located below the film rewind knob, which shows Panchro, Color, and Empty markings. If the shutter is cocked, a red disk appears in the small window beside the shutter release button.
Other Features
The camera has separate X-sync and FP terminals to connect an electronic flash and flashbulb respectively. For an electronic flash, the camera offers a maximum synchronization of 1/60th of a second. The self-timer function allows you to delay the shutter release from 5 to 13 seconds. The camera can be powered by the 1.35V button-shaped battery.
