The Canon Rebel G SLR Camera comes with an autofocus system and various picture-taking modes that bring versatility in film photography. This camera can be used with Canon EF-mount lenses. There are up to 8 exposure modes in the camera, 6 of these are automatic, one is used with the flash, and the last one is manual. The camera viewfinder offers a 90% screen coverage. This camera comes with an ISO film range of 6–6400 and a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000th of a second. The automatic winding enables the camera to capture continuous shots at 1 fps. The built-in flash makes it easy to work in low light. An external flash can be mounted to the hot shoe. Two DL123A or CR123A lithium batteries power the camera's electronic functions.

Optics and Focus

The Canon Rebel G includes up to 6 auto-exposure modes namely, Program AE, Apture-priority AE, Automatic depth-of-field AE and Full Auto. One autoexposure mode is dedicated to be used with Speedlite flash units such as 220EX and 380EX. The camera shake warning is shown by the shutter speed display. This camera utilizes the TTL-CT-SIR with multiple Base-stored Image Sensors when focusing with the attached lens. The shutter speed can be increased up to 1/2000th of a second to capture photos of moving objects.

Sensor and Screen

The optical viewfinder can be used to frame the shot. A partial metering circle and three focus points are located at the center of the viewfinder screen. The viewfinder covers 90% screen are and offers 0.7× magnification. Camera settings such as AE lock, shutter speed, aperture, high-speed flash, and exposure is shown at the bottom side of the viewfinder screen. Also, an LCD panel is located at the top, which displays the similar information along with battery status, film status, frame counter, and four functional pointers.

Image and Video

This camera captures photos with a 35mm film. You can also use DX-coded films that have a speed range of 25 to 5000. The camera lets you capture up to 9 exposures on a single frame for creating a multi-exposure effect. With the automatic film wind, the camera takes continuous shots at 1 fps. When the film reaches the end, the camera automatically rewinds the film. Also, the camera lets you rewind the roll from midway.

Other Features

The Canon Rebel G comes with a built-in flash that has a guide number of 12 m at ISO 100. It covers the frame angle of a 28mm lens and has a recycle time of 2 seconds. An external Speedlite flash can be connected to the camera's hot shoe. You can synchronize the mounted electronic flash at 1/90th of a second and a flashbulb at all shutter speeds. The shutter release can be delayed up to 10 seconds by using the self-timer. This Canon SLR is powered by two DL123A or CR123A lithium batteries.
