The Canon Rebel 2000 is a 35mm film camera that includes all the essential functions most DSLRs offer today. You can use this camera with Canon EF-mount lens. The TTL-SIR CMOS sensor controls the focusing work. Also, the camera lets you select the focus points manually. The camera employs the TTL full-aperture metering by using a 35-zone SPC photocell and provides three metering patterns, namely evaluative, central-partial and center-weighted average metering. You can overlay up to 9 pictures on a single frame to create a unique multiexposure effect. The SLR-type roof-prism viewfinder has 90% screen coverage and 0.70× magnification. With the built-in flash, you can use the camera at night or in dark areas. The camera works on two CR2 lithium batteries.
Optics and Focus
The 28–80mm lens is provided with the camera that can be used to take both wide angle and close-up shots. Other Canon EF-mount lenses can also be fitted to this camera. This Canon film camera has the TTL-SIR CMOS sensor that teams up with the AF system of the attached lens to provide accurate focusing operation. You can also manually select the AF points as per your requirement. The One-Shot AF is ideal for capturing photos of stationary objects while the AI Servo AF is included for taking pictures of moving objects. This camera comes with the TTL full-aperture metering powered by a 35-zone SPC photocell. Choose one of the three metering methods to determine how the exposure needs to be adjusted. The vertical-travel focal plane shutter can speed up to a limit of 1/2000th of a second.
Sensor and Screen
You can compose the scene by using the SLR-type roof prism viewfinder that has frame coverage of 90% on both horizontal and vertical axis. The viewfinder offers 0.70× magnification with a 50mm lens and has its eyepiece diopter set to -1 dpt. You can see the camera-related information such as shutter speed, aperture, exposure level, flash status, focus indicator in the viewfinder. The LCD panel also shows similar information along with the film transport confirmation and battery level.
Image and Video
The camera uses 35mm films for taking pictures. This camera lets you click up to 9 exposures on a single frame. The automatic pre-wind system winds the loaded film to the first frame. This camera has two frame advance mode namely single shot and continuous. The automatic transport mechanism ensures a noise-free operation with a functioning sound of merely 60 dB.
Other features
The Canon Rebel 2000 comes with a built-in flash that has a guide number of 39 feet at ISO 100. This integrated flash offers a coverage angle of a 28mm lens and flash duration less than 1 ms. You can trigger the next flash in 2 seconds. An accessory shoe is located at the top for attaching an external flash. For an electronic flash, the shutter can be synchronized up to 1/90th of a second. The camera has a battery check function that can be used by releasing the command wheel from "L" position. The camera can capture photographs with 24 film rolls at 20°C and 16 rolls at -10°C.
