The Nikon D3500 DSLR Camera contains various features that benefit both photography and video applications. It comes with a Nikkor 18–55mm and 70–300mm zoom lenses. Ideal for beginners, the camera utilizes the 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor to capture high-resolution images and Full HD videos. The high-speed frame rate of 60 fps allows you to create slow-motion effects. You can capture continuous shoots at a speed of 5 fps. The 3.0-inch LCD and optical viewfinder provide accurate image framing for both photo and video. With the Active D-Lighting feature, the camera keeps the shadow details and highlights intact to create a realistic image in the presence of bright lighting. The camera body is redesigned where the controls are placed on the right side for one-hand operation.
The Nikon D3500 is supplied with a NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR and an AF-P DX NIKKOR 70–300mm f/4.5–6.3G ED lens. Other Nikon F-mount lenses can also be attached to the camera. These lenses have special Extra-low Dispersion and aspherical elements to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations. The Super Integrated Coating is applied to the elements of both the lenses to reduce ghosting and flare. These two zoom lenses also have a pulse stepping motor that ensures quiet focusing performance. The Vibration Reduction image stabilization cuts down the appearance of camera shakes. In the camera, the Nikon Multi-CAM 1000 AF sensor module handles the focusing work. It includes 11 phase detection points that can be selected at will. The focus system has a working range of -1 from +19 at ISO 100.
The Nikon D3500 DSLR is fitted with a 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor that has omitted the low-pass filter to increase the overall image sharpness. The 3.0-inch, 921K-dot LCD provides a wide viewing angle of 170°. Its screen coverage of 100% ensures accurate framing of the scene without any crop. The optical viewfinder gives a 0.85× magnification of the actual image. You can adjust the diopter from -1.7 to +0.5 m to match your eyepoint power.
The D3500 from Nikon captures 24 MP still images in JEPG and RAW formats at a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 pixels. In the movie mode, the camera shoots 1080p videos at a frame rate of up to 60 fps. With the highest frame rate, you can stretch footage by 2× to create slow-motion effects. The EXPEED 4 image processor enhances the camera performance to support both Full HD shooting and 5 fps burst capture. Enable the Active D-Lighting function to preserve the shadow details and highlights in the image. You can alter the image look in-camera with the included editing functions.
The Nikon D3500 comes with the SnapBridge functionality that uses the Bluetooth connectivity to transfer 2 MP images to smartphones automatically. This Nikon camera has a built-in flash that ensures well-lit photos. An external flash can also be mounted on to the top hot shoe. The flash compensation is adjustable from -3 EV to +1 EV in 1/3 EV increments. The self-timer allows you to delay the shutter release by 2, 5, 10, and 20 seconds. On a fully charged EN-EL14A Li-ion battery, the camera captures up to 1550 stills approximately.
