OVERVIEW
The Nikon COOLPIX P1000 Digital Camera is designed for meeting the requirements of aspiring filmmakers. It sports a Nikkor 24–3000mm lens. The camera utilizes the 1/2.3-inch 16 MP CMOS sensor that facilitates enhanced low-light shooting when teamed up with the EXPEED 4 image processor. This Nikon digital camera provides 4K video quality at 30 fps and 16MP continuous shots at 7 fps. The 3.2-inch vari-angle LCD and 2.36 m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder offer crystal clear live view of the scene at hand. The built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity allow image transfers to smartphones via the Nikon SnapBridge app. With the included EN-EL20a battery, the camera can capture up to 250 shots per charge.
Optics and Focus
The integrated Nikkor lens offers a 35mm-equivalent focal range of 24–3000mm. Its optical construction houses 17 elements in 12 groups that include 5 Extra-low Dispersion elements and a single Super Extra-low Dispersion element to combat various types of distortions. The lens offers a maximum zoom of 125× that takes you close enough to capture craters and peaks on the moon surface. Moreover, the zoom is supported by the Dual Detect Optical Vibration Reduction system that compensates for up to 5 stops of camera shakes. With the electronic 7-blade diaphragm, the lens produces a nearly circular bokeh in the out-of-focus background. The camera focusing system uses contrast detection points that are scattered in the imaging area. You may use the face priority, subject tracking, or target finding AF when shooting a moving subject. The focus lock function keeps the focus point pinned to the set spot for preventing its automatic adjustment when not required.
Sensor and Screen
The Nikon COOLPIX 1000 digital camera renders images using the 16 MP CMOS sensor that has a backside-illuminated structure to improve sensitivity in low light. For image composition, you may choose the 3.2-inch LCD that has a vari-angle design to allow working from different positions. The traditional alternative to the LCD is the 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder that makes it easy to shoot and adjust exposure from eye level.
Image and Video
This Nikon digital camera captures photographs with a maximum resolution of 4608×3456 pixels. You may select the standard JPEG for quick image sharing or the RAW format for fine-tuning the picture look during post-processing. The camera records 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at 60 fps. Select the continuous shooting mode to capture 16 MP burst stills at 7 fps. When it comes to low-light shooting, the EXPEED 4 image processor enhances the ISO sensitivity to brighten the dark parts in the scene. There are up to 21 shooting modes in the camera, each of them intended for a particular situation or requirement.
Other Features
This Nikon camera comes with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options that let you transfer photos to smartphones via the Nikon SnapBridge app. You can easily re-acquire the lost subject using the zoom toggle and snapback button. The camera has a built-in flash with a maximum effective range of 0.98–39.37 feet on the wide setting and 16.40–26.25 feet on the tele-macro setting. A hot shoe is also provided for mounting an electronic flash. The dedicated 3.5mm connector accepts external microphones. On a fully charged EN-EL20a battery, the camera captures approximately 250 images.
