Overview

The Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art Lens is an easy-to-use, optically advanced lens that lets you take crystal clear pictures with your Nikon F-mount camera. The optical construction of the lens consists of 13 elements in 10 groups. Also included are two FLD elements and two SLD elements that reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations, so that you get better clarity and color accuracy. The Super Multi-Layer Coating on the lens minimizes ghosting and flares to produce neutral colors and a rich contrast, even when there is backlight. The large Hyper Sonic Motor lets the lens get a quick, accurate autofocus. Moreover, the nine-blade, rounded diaphragm is useful for producing a smooth bokeh for your subject’s background. The firmware and characteristics of the lens can be updated and fine-tuned, respectively, with the separately available Sigma USB Dock. The Sigma 135 mm Art Lens is made from a Thermally Stable Composite material and conventional metals, and features a high-quality rubber sealing on the brass bayonet mount for protection from splashes and dust.

Elements / Groups: 13/10
Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
