Compare Atomos monitors and recorders by screen size, recording formats and connections, with in-stock choices from $495 to $999.

5.2-inch recorders: HDMI control or SDI connectivity
The Atomos Ninja RAW 5.2in Monitor and Recorder costs $699 and suits HDMI camera rigs needing external recording and on-screen camera adjustments. The Atomos Ninja TX 5.2in Monitor and Recorder costs $999 and is the choice here for 12G-SDI connections and built-in camera-to-cloud. Both have a 5.2-inch, 1920 x 1080 touchscreen rated at 1500 nits. Both weigh 400 g and measure 151 x 92 x 36 mm. Paying for TX does not buy a bigger or brighter screen.
Ninja RAW records ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ, along with ProRes LT, 422 and 422 HQ. It records over HDMI to Atomos-certified CFexpress Type B or USB storage. Its on-screen camera controls include white balance, aperture, shutter speed/angle and ISO. That makes it the model to consider when camera adjustments matter more than network delivery.
RAW also supplies waveform monitoring and focus peaking, plus ARRI and EL Zone false color. Anamorphic de-squeeze displays the intended image proportions when working with anamorphic lenses. HDMI and USB-C locking cable adaptors are included.
Ninja TX supports ProRes/RAW, Avid DNx and H.265/H.264, recording to CFexpress Type B or USB-C storage. It combines HDMI 2.0 and 12G-SDI inputs and outputs with Wi-Fi 6E. Direct uploads to ATOMOSphere, Frame.io and Dropbox suit productions that need files moving toward an editor without a separate manual upload step. TX also provides RF or Bluetooth timecode synchronization and NDI 6 streaming. Both recorders support NP-F battery or USB-C power.
A 7-inch recorder with 6K30p ProRes RAW
The Atomos Shogun 7 inch 6K RAW HDR Monitor/Recorder costs $839.99. Choose it over the 5.2-inch recorders when a larger viewing surface matters more than keeping the monitor compact. Its 7-inch touchscreen has a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 2000-nit brightness rating. The body measures 198 x 133 x 40 mm and weighs 730 g excluding batteries, so allow room for it on the rig.
Shogun captures ProRes RAW up to 6K30p and also supports ProRes, DNxHD and H.265. It has HDMI and 12G-SDI inputs and outputs. For recording media, Atomos lists SATA 3 MasterCaddy/SSDmini and CFast II via an adapter. That is a different storage arrangement from the CFexpress Type B and USB-C options on Ninja RAW and Ninja TX.
Its networking includes Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet, with a 4K H.265 camera-to-cloud mode for cloud delivery. AirGlu wireless synchronization is included. Power comes from an NP-F/L-series battery or a DC input, with a specified operating voltage of 6.2 to 16.8 VDC.
A bright 7-inch monitoring and receiving screen
The Atomos Shinobi 7 RX Monitor costs $799 and suits a director's viewing position or an operator who needs monitoring rather than external recording. Its 7-inch, 1920 x 1200 touchscreen reaches a rated 2200 nits, the highest brightness rating among these displays. The SD card slot is for LUTs and firmware updates only, not video recording.
HDMI accepts signals up to 4Kp60, while 3G-SDI supports HDp60. Both connections have outputs, with HDMI specified as a loop output. Pay attention to that SDI distinction: this is 3G-SDI, not the 12G-SDI connection on Shogun or Ninja TX.
The integrated wireless receiver accepts video from the transmitter in Atomos' TX-RX system, and Atomos rates receive latency below 60 ms. It can also receive an RTSP H.264 stream. Wireless reception makes this a candidate for a viewing position away from the camera, without adding a separate receiver to the display.
USB-C camera control and touch-to-focus also make it useful at the camera. Monitoring tools include EL Zone/ARRI false color, histogram, waveform, zebra and focus peaking. The monitor weighs 580 g and has dual NP-F battery slots.
A recorder bundled with HDMI switching equipment
The Atomos Ninja V+ Switch and Stream Kit costs $599. This is the package to consider for switching HDMI sources for a stream while also getting an on-camera recording monitor. It includes a 5.2-inch 8K HDMI recording monitor and an HDMI broadcast switcher, rather than just a display with recording capability.
The monitor accepts up to 8K raw input from a camera and supports SSD recording, ProRes and H.265. Its touchscreen resolution is 1920 x 1080, with a brightness rating of 1000 nits. Do not confuse the 8K recording designation with the display resolution. Its brightness rating is also lower than the 1500-nit rating of Ninja RAW and Ninja TX.
The included switcher handles HDMI sources and provides HDMI output for streaming. The package includes two batteries and a charger, a battery eliminator, a power adapter and a Master Caddy II. A screen protector, sun hood and cases are also included. Those accessories deserve a place in the budget comparison when building a setup from scratch.
A wireless link for a separate viewing position
The Atomos TX-RX 4K/HD Wireless Video Monitoring Transmitter and Receiver Set costs $495. It serves a different purpose from the recorders: sending video to a separate viewing position without running a video cable between camera and receiver. The set includes one transmitter and one receiver.
Atomos specifies transmission up to 4Kp30 over HDMI or 1080p60 over SDI, with a range up to 300 meters, or 985 feet. Treat that distance as a rated maximum, not a guaranteed working distance at every location. A monitor's ability to accept 4Kp60 over HDMI does not make this system transmit 4Kp60.
Each transmitter supports up to four receivers; additional receivers are purchased separately. That gives crews a route to multiple viewing positions. Power options are an NP-F battery, USB-C or a 9–16V DC input.
