Why are Lightroom 3 noise reduction Detail and Contrast sliders disabled on some RAW files?

In Lightroom 3.6, some older RAW files let me use the basic noise reduction controls, but the Detail and Contrast sliders are grayed out. These files were shot on the same camera as newer RAW files that work normally. What causes those sliders to be disabled, and how do I enable them?

Ok, I just solved it.
Go to the Settings Menu, select Process, and if it is Process 2003 you convert to Process 2010.

Those sliders are usually disabled because the image is using an older Lightroom process version. In Lightroom 3, the newer noise reduction controls such as Detail and Contrast require Process 2010. If the file is set to Process 2003, those options can appear grayed out.
To enable them, open the image and change its process version: Settings menu > Process > 2010
After switching to Process 2010, the additional noise reduction sliders should become available.
