Why doesn’t noise reduction appear to work in RawTherapee?

I’m editing noisy high-ISO Canon RAW files in RawTherapee on a Mac. I enabled both impulse noise reduction and regular noise reduction, and even pushed the sliders to extreme settings, but I can’t see any visible change in the preview. Is there a reason noise reduction doesn’t show up, and how can I properly check whether it’s working?

You can only preview noise reduction in RT when you zoom image to 100%, even in latest version.
Many other tools have same limitations for previewing, they are marked with small "1:1" label near their names.

In RawTherapee, noise reduction may only be visible when viewing the image at 100% (1:1) zoom. At other zoom levels, the preview can be scaled or simplified, so noise reduction changes may not be shown accurately or may be impossible to judge.
Try this:
- Zoom to 100% / 1:1.
- Check whether the noise reduction tools are marked with a small “1:1” indicator.
- Compare before/after in a detailed area with visible noise.
- If needed, export the image and inspect the output, since previews are often only approximations.
This is normal behavior in many photo editors, not necessarily a sign that the controls are broken.
