I have a Markins Q-Ball Q20 ball head with lever release that I use with a Nikon D90. I’d also like to mount a Canon HF G10 camcorder on it. What type of plate or bracket works well with this head, especially if I want a reasonably affordable option?

Cheap and good rarely go together but you have bought into one of the most expensive release systems on the market. That's OK since it gives a firm grip with little play, except that it will be hard to find something genuine and cheap.
What you are looking for is a universal camera plate with a list price of $55 USD. You may find cheap knock-offs on eBay and they will be just that. Mind you, this is not a sophisticated device, so if it is not perfect it may be too loose but it won't damage the rest of your gear unless you do not notice and something drops, so test first if you buy a fake.

You likely want a universal quick-release plate that matches the Markins Q20’s Arca-style clamp, rather than a special camcorder bracket.
The key point is compatibility with the lever-release clamp: Markins uses a precise Arca-type standard, so very cheap knock-off plates may fit loosely or inconsistently. They probably won’t harm the head, but they can be risky if the fit is poor, so test carefully before trusting them with the camcorder.
A genuine universal plate is the safer choice and should remain useful with future gear. Community suggestions included a standard universal camera plate and the Acratech universal plate with a cork top, which can help grip a plastic-bodied camera/camcorder securely without needing excessive tightening.
So the practical answer is: buy a good-quality Arca-compatible universal plate sized appropriately for the camcorder base. It may not be the absolute cheapest option, but it’s the most reliable match for a Markins lever-release system.
