I want to fit a UV filter to a Hasselblad 80mm lens and I’m unsure whether it uses a normal threaded filter size such as 67mm. What filter mount does the 80mm Hasselblad lens use, and does it depend on the lens version?

Assuming you talk about the standard MF Planar 80/2.8 CF lens the filter is proprietary Bay 60.

Most commonly used with a 67mm filter and an adapter.

Older C lens used Bay 50, also proprietary.

Hasselblad 80mm lenses generally do not use a normal screw-in filter thread. They use Hasselblad’s proprietary bayonet filter mount.

For the common 80mm f/2.8 versions:

  • CF 80mm lenses use Bay 60
  • Older C / C T* 80mm lenses use Bay 50

So 67mm is not the native filter size for the lens itself. However, Bay 60 lenses are commonly used with an adapter that lets you mount 67mm filters.

There’s also a second filtering option on Hasselblad lenses: an external bellows-style hood system that can hold gel filters in front of the lens.

In short: check the exact 80mm lens version you have. If it’s a CF lens, look for Bay 60 filters or a Bay 60 to 67mm adapter. If it’s an older C lens, look for Bay 50 filters.
