Will a 67mm K&F Concept ND2-ND32 filter fit the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM?

I want to use a K&F Concept ND2-ND32 variable ND filter on the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM. The lens takes 67mm filters, but the product description mentions a 52mm screw thread and says it is only for a 52mm lens. Is that listing incorrect, and do I just need the 67mm version to fit this lens?

For that particular filter at Amazon, it appears K&F Concept probably just provided the exact same "52 mm" descriptive text, regardless of which filter diameter is chosen.

The confusion here isn't a filter or lens thing; it's merely an example of technical issues, misunderstanding at the supplier end, or laziness in providing the correct descriptive text, with regards to e-commerce.

If you order the 67mm filter, it will fit your lens. If you order a 67mm filter but are delivered 52mm, then you were sent the wrong one through no fault of your own, and you should return it to Amazon and complain about the seller's product page.

Update: This issue might only apply to the English-language version of the filter's page(s) at Amazon.de. At Amazon.com, the last bullet point's text corresponds correctly with the filter diameter selection choices (37mm / 40.5mm / ... / 52mm / 67mm / ... / etc). Example for the 67mm filter:

  • 【NOTE】This Filter kit is compatible with all 67mm lenses. Please verify your camera's lens thread size(usually marked somewhere on the lens barrel or printed underneath the lens cap) before ordering. The number is always preceded by a "ø" (diameter) symbol.

Yes — this lens needs a 67mm filter. Filter compatibility is determined by the lens’s filter thread size, and the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM uses 67mm threads.

So if you buy the 67mm version of that K&F filter, it should fit your lens. The “52mm screw thread” note in the listing is most likely generic or incorrect description text reused across multiple size options.

In general:

  • 67mm lens thread = buy a 67mm filter
  • A 52mm filter fits only 52mm threads unless you use an adapter
  • Larger filters can be used with step-up rings
  • Smaller filters on larger lenses usually require step-down rings and may cause vignetting

If you order the 67mm version and receive a 52mm filter, that would simply be the wrong item and should be returned.
