How do I get UFRaw working with GIMP 2.8.14 on OS X Yosemite?

I installed GIMP 2.8.14 on Yosemite expecting UFRaw support, but it does not appear in the plug-in browser, and opening a Nikon NEF file only shows a small thumbnail. Is UFRaw included in this version, or do I need a different GIMP package or separate install?

There was a bug in UFRaw preventing it to work properly on Yosemite. The recently (on 9th January 2015, that is) released GIMP 2.8.14p2 package now has a working UFRaw included.

This was likely caused by a Yosemite-specific UFRaw bug, not by you looking in the wrong place. The fix was included in the updated GIMP 2.8.14p2 package for OS X. If your current 2.8.14 install does not show working UFRaw support and NEF files only open as thumbnails, install the 2.8.14p2 build instead. In short: use the patched Yosemite-compatible GIMP package rather than the original 2.8.14 release.
