I want to search a Lightroom 5 catalog for images that do not have GPS/location information. Is there a filter or metadata search that shows photos with no coordinates?

Enable Filters (in the Library menu), select the Metadata filter, then choose the "GPS Data" filter. There, you can select "No coordinates." Of course, if there are no coordinates, it's not geotagged. Similarly, you can use any of the location filters ("Location," "City," "State/Province," and "Country") and choose "Unknown..." to filter for those with no information.

Yes. In Lightroom 5, go to the Library module and turn on the Filter Bar, then choose the Metadata filter. Add a column for GPS Data and select No Coordinates to show images that are not geotagged.
You can also use location-related metadata columns such as Location, City, State/Province, or Country and choose Unknown to find photos with no location information entered.
If a photo has no coordinates, it is effectively not geotagged.
