How can I stop the Canon EOS 80D Live View screen from turning off so quickly?

On my Canon EOS 80D, when I’m in Live View and looking through menu options, the rear screen turns off after only a few seconds. I couldn’t find a setting to increase the timeout. Is there a way to make Live View stay on longer?

On the EOS 80D, Live View should normally remain on much longer than just a few seconds—typically up to around 30 minutes under normal conditions. If it is shutting off almost immediately, the most likely causes mentioned are:
- a low battery, or
- the camera getting too warm internally.
So first try a fully charged battery, and make sure the camera isn’t overheating from extended use or a hot environment. If both battery level and temperature are normal, the behavior is not typical and may indicate a camera setting you’ve overlooked or a possible fault.

Low battery life and camera internal temperature are two things that could cause this. I think the display should stay on for at least 30 minutes if these two conditions are normal
